Former Pakistan fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar has announced his return to the game of cricket, almost seven years after his retirement.

Meanwhile, Akhtar last represented Pakistan against New Zealand in 2011. Akhtar is currently a part of the Lahore Qalandars, a franchise based team in the Pakistan Super League. The franchise has recently conducted a training camp which aims to hunt young and fresh talents from different cities of Pakistan.

The Qalandars’ team arrived for the selection process at the Gujranwala Stadium. Shoaib Akhtar, one of the selectors, tried out a few deliveries at the nets during the event.

Furthermore, he took to Twitter to post a video of him trying his hands in what he does the best.

Here am making a come back for Lahore Qalandar.. Bowled after years but loved it ..,” the post read.

In 223 international match, Shoaib Akhtar has bagged a total of 444 (178 in Tests, 247 in ODIs, 19 in T20Is) wickets across all the three formats. He is also the fastest Pakistan has ever produced.

Furthermore, he holds the record of bowling the fastest ball -161.3 km/hour in the history of cricket. He is followed by Shaun Tait (161.1), Brett Lee (161.1), Jeff Thomson (160.6) and Mitchell Starc (160.4) in the chart.

Akhtar also represented Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League for one season. He ended with figures of 4 wickets for 11 runs from three overs, a performance which earned him the player of the match award.
