India’s southpaw opener Gautam Gambhir is all impressed with the good show of the Indian bowling battery. India was able to skittle out the hosts for 246 after Joe Root won the toss for the fourth time and decided to bat first.
Meanwhile, Indian pacers were able to make good use of the conditions and troubled the England batting order consistently. Consequently, the tourist’s bowlers were able to hit the right areas and used the swinging conditions to breathe down the neck of the English batsmen.

Jasprit Bumrah was the most impressive Indian pacer as he scalped three wickets. In fact, Bumrah was right on the money with his line and length. Thus, he has been a perfect find for the Indian team.
India had England in all sorts of trouble with 86 for six. However, Sam Curran who is a fine prodigy continued with his penchant of rescuing his team out of the troubled waters.
Gambhir feels it was India’s day.
“I think England winning the toss and then getting bowled out for 246 was a brilliant effort by the Indian bowlers. The wicket looked really good. It swung a bit. I thought it was a very good wicket to bat, but the bowlers were outstanding again. England did make a comeback from 86/6. But I still felt it was India’s day, especially after losing the toss,” Gambhir said while talking to Times of India.
Gautam Gambhir went on to praise the Indian bowlers for their fine show on the opening day. Subsequently, they need to dominate with the bat to put their noses in front.

“When you can get the opposition out for 246 and then get off to a decent start without any loss. Obviously, India can take it from here and can look to dominate Day 2 from here. Probably I thought the bowlers were outstanding. Again Jasprit Bumrah was unbelievable. I thought it was a fantastic team effort from the bowlers’ point of view,” Gambhir said.
The left-hander reckons India would have taken 246 on any day especially after losing the toss. Thus, the onus will be on the batsmen to come up with goods.

Indian bowlers once again did their job and now it would be up to the batsmen to come to the party. India trails by 227 runs after being 19-0 in reply to England’s 246.
