Liverpool player Jordan Henderson has signed a new contract at Liverpool, which keeps him at the Anfield until 2023.
Henderson has signed a new five year contract at Liverpool.
Henderson moved to Merseyside in the summer of 2011. He has now signed a new five-year contract and is determined to keep playing for the Reds.
After signing the contract, the 27-year old told club’s official website:
“I’m very happy to have signed a new contract for a long period of time. I’m absolutely delighted. It doesn’t seem like too long ago when I signed my first one – it feels like yesterday, really – but a lot has happened since then. I feel it’s been a progressive journey for me throughout my time here and one I’ve enjoyed so much.”
Henderson further added:
“There is no other place in the world I would rather play football. I want to be here for as long as I can be. I’m so privileged to have been a part of this club for so long, and hopefully even longer now.”
In 2011, Liverpool signed Henderson from Sunderland in a deal worth around £20 million ($26m). His transfer was highly doubted by the experts and if he can live up to the expectations at Anfield. But the player kept performing years and years for the Reds. And now the midfielder is one of the vital player of Liverpool.
After the departure of Steven Gerrard, the job of the captaincy was handed over to Henderson. He has now made 283 appearances for the club, netting 24 goals in the process.
With the signing of the new contract, the midfielder will also be looking to keep his place intact in the England side. He is expected to feature for Gareth Southgate’s side when they take on Spain at Wembley in their first Nations League game on September 8.
