Ravichandran Ashwin might warm the benches for the final Test match as he is not 100% fit.  Ashwin had suffered a hip injury in the third Test match at Trent Bridge. In fact, he had bowled a solitary over in the first innings of the Trent Bridge Test.

Meanwhile, it is reported by Times of India that Ravichandran Ashwin aggravated his injury while playing in the fourth Test match at Southampton. Thus, there are question marks hovering over his participation in the final Test match at the Kennington Oval, London.

On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin looked toothless in England’s second innings in the previous Test as he scalped a solitary wicket. In fact, there were a lot of expectations from Ravichandran Ashwin as the Ageas Bowl track was assisting the spinners.

However, Ashwin failed to land his deliveries in the rough areas. The off-spinner pitched only 18% of his balls in the crater and thus could not make the most of the conditions.

In fact, it was surprising as Ashwin has all the experience under his belt. However, he was not able to make the most of the vast experience.

Furthermore, Ashwin bowled at a faster speed and also tried too many variations. Thus, he was not as effective as Moeen Ali who scalped nine wickets.

Meanwhile, if Ashwin will not play in the final Test match, his spin partner Ravindra Jadeja will play his maiden Test of the ongoing tour.

England has already taken an impregnable lead of 3-1 in the series. The fourth Test match will take place at Kennington Oval from 7th of September.
