Incumbent team India Test opener, Shikhar Dhawan is likely to miss the upcoming two-match Test series against Windies starting from October 4.
Meanwhile, Dhawan has had a tough time in England as he struggled for runs throughout the series. Karnataka batsmen Mayank Agarwal is likely to get his maiden call after a splendid run in the domestic cricket for the last 18 months.

The selection committee was originally scheduled to pick the squad for the two-match series on Wednesday, but it’s learned that they have decided to postpone the meeting by a few days for now. MSK Prasad & Co are waiting on the reports for Ishant Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin, who will undergo fitness tests on Sunday.
Ashwin had suffered from a hip injury during the third Test between India and England while Ishant left the field during England’s second innings in the final Test after experiencing some pain in his left ankle.
Furthermore, the delay will also give the selectors to look at the Board President XI’s practice game against Windies. The BPXI squad includes the likes of Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw in addition to latest Test debutant, Hanuma Vihari. It will also be an opportunity for Murali Vijay to impress the selectors after missing the last two Test. Vijay has been scoring runs off late for his County side.
Dhawan’s longstanding ODI and T20I opening partner Rohit Sharma is also not in the reckoning for a Test recall. Rohit, who is leading India in the Asia Cup also didn’t find a place in the Test squad for the England series. He last played a Test at Centurion in January and is waiting for a call.
