Team India cricketers and management are likely to opt the resting policy ahead of the World Cup in England next year to keep their players fresh.

Meanwhile, as per reports in TOI, Virat Kohli is likely to get some more rest to ensure he remains fit for the mega event. The report also suggests that the management have opted this policy to keep the best combination for the World Cup fit.

“Virat could be rested again if need be to ensure he is fit for the World Cup. It is a rotation policy which the team has initiated to keep the best combination for the World Cup in June 2019,” a BCCI source said

Virat Kohli recently skipped the Asia Cup to manage his workload after the grueling England tour. Rohit Sharma led India on his behalf to a successful campaign in the six-nation tournament. Previously, Kohli also missed the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka and his County stint due to an injury. Virat Kohli has been suffering from various injuries in 2018, and the management is keen to manage his workload by giving him intermittent rest.

Furthermore, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah will also get some rest ahead of the World Cup. In addition to, they are currently not a part of the ongoing Test series against Windies.

Kumar missed the Test series against England while Bumrah missed the first two Tests. Both suffered injuries during the limited overs series against Ireland and England.

Other than these three, BCCI might opt to rest a few more players. It will be interesting to see if they try young Rishabh Pant for the ODIs against Windies. So far, Pant has done remarkably well in the four Tests he has played and might well get a nod ahead in the home series.
