The youngest in the list, Virat notched uo his 18th ton in ODI cricket in India’s unsuccessful chase of a 300+ score at Napier in the 1st ODI against the Kiwis last month. Virat has an outstanding 18 centuries to his name in a matter of 126 innings and few will doubt his ability to break Sachin Tendulkar’s records in the ODI format. 9. Mark Waugh

8. Brian Lara

Herchelle Gibbs will forever be remembered for his role in the greatest ODI chase in cricketing history as he smashed the Aussie bowlers to all corners of the Wanderers in a blazing innings of 175. Gibbs has 20 centuries to his name in 240 innings and occupies the 6th spot in our countdown.

5. Chris  Gayle
There is NOBODY in world cricket who comes even close to the kind of destruction this man can inflict on the opposition. 4. Sourav Ganguly

3. Sanath Jayasuriya

2. Ricky Ponting
Ricky Ponting is often spoken in the same breath as the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, purely because of the manner in which Ponting went on about his cricket and the consistency with which he excelled in international cricket. Ponting’s 30 centuries were masterclasses in batting, and his temperament and character came to the fore in the World Cup final of 2003 in which he tore into the Indian bowling to take Australia to a staggering 359 for 2 and effectively blow India out of the game.

1. Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar’s quality, his consistency and his undoubted class are reflected in his outstanding tally of 49 centuries in ODI cricket as the man from Maharashtra justified the early hype surrounding his career with a glittering chapter in the history of not just cricket, but sports in general. Sachin tops SPORTZWIKI’s Top 10 ODI batsmen with maximum centuries with 49 tons in 453 innings, a feat that is likely to stand for a while it seems, unless ofcourse a certain Virat Kohli has something to say about it.
