Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has been criticized once again this season, condemning his tactics which have made the players produce a lack-lustre display.
Critics have blasted van Gaal saying that it brings them tears when watching the team play.
One of the worst decision that he made this season was selling winger, Angel di Maria, stating that he did not “buy his philosophy”. To put it in other words, van Gaal didn’t know how to utilize him and he is now doing far better in PSG.
It is the possession based approach which has irked the former greats of Manchester United like Paul Scholes,Owen who have questioned van Gaal’s methods, while fans have questioned his non-attacking method even when the resources where available.
The latest player to criticize van Gaal is, Dutch legend Willem van Hanegem, a member of the Holland team that reached the 1974 World Cup final.
Van Gaal had led Netherlands to third place in last year’s World cup in Brazil, which Willem acknowledges happily by stating that “Van Gaal is a good trainer when his team get results because then everything is accepted. Look at Holland in the World Cup.
“Perhaps it (his football) does not matter to others, as long as it yields points. I do not think so. I am a lover (of football). Van Gaal takes the fun away from the people.”
Fans have urged to sign a petition, for Sir Alex Ferguson to come out of retirement to help Man U.
The match against Leicester city was the one which brought sorrow to all with possession of the ball being highlighted.
Only now does he realize that creative players who play wide may help ManU’s cause, after having sold Maria. Due to his forcing attitude, Ryan Giggs’s future at Old Trafford is under scrutiny. Players expressed that they were bored even during training time due to his arid approach.
Another promising attacking player, Ander Herrera is worried about him being on the bench most of the time and has asked for a proper talk with the van Gaal.
His dry approach is irritating the players to a very large extent and fans are worried about Herrera. Amidst this uncomfortable situation, reports of Ronaldo’s Mum asking him to go back to Old Trafford have surfaced! It has to been where this all leads to and the fate of van Gaal, I believe, will be decided sooner or later.
