Riding on a stunning century from their skipper Rohit Sharma, India thrashed Windies by 71 runs in the second T20I to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Asked to bat first, India were off to a solid start. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan added 123 runs for the first wicket before the latter departed for 43. Rohit, however, remained till the end, scoring an unbeaten 111 to guide India to 195 for 2.

In reply, Windies rarely looked in contention to chase down the big total. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually restricted to 124 for 9.

With the game now done and dusted, here is the statistics highlights from the second T20I:

1. Rohit Sharma has now become player with most centuries in T20 Internationals. It was his fourth T20I ton, taking him past New Zealand’s Colin Munro who has scored three.  The century was the seventh T20I century by an India with Rohit incredibly scoring four of them. The other three have been scored by KL Rahul (2) and Suresh Raina

2. Rohit now also has the most 50-plus scores in the shortest format of the game. It was his 19th 50-plus score in T20Is, taking him go past Virat Kohli’s previous record of 18 fifty plus scores.

3. 111* by Rohit is the second highest individual score for India in T20 Internationals after his own 118 against Sri Lanka in Indore last December. It is also the third highest individual score against Windies in T20Is.

4. Rohit became the second batsman to score two T20I centuries in the same calendar year. Earlier this year, he scored an unbeaten 100 against England in Bristol in July. Colin Munro is the only other batsman to achieve this feat.

5. Rohit has now become the leading run-scorer for India in T20Is by going past Virat Kohli. He needed 11 runs before the game started to overtake Kohli. The right-hander has so far scored 2,203 runs and is second in the list of most runs by a player in T20Is. New Zealand’s Martin Guptill leads the list with 2,271 runs.

6. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit have now scored 1,268 runs together in 39 innings in T20 Internationals. They became the leading pair in T20Is, surpassing David Warner and Shane Watson, who aggregated 1154 runs from 37 partnerships.
