Sony Norde, the Haitian striker who has been representing Mumbai City FC in the ISL, has finally confirmed that he would don Mohun Bagan shirts in the coming season. The striker, who guided his team to the thrilling 3-2 victory against Atletico De Kolkata (ATK) in their last group league match at the Salt Lake Stadium on Friday, has also informed that he would return to Kolkata and resume training with Mohun Bagan squad from 27th December.
Norde speaking to media on his second season with Mohun Bagan, said, “The team has been strong in this season also. Striker like Cornel Glen has joined the team this season. He is truly a good striker and his joining will help all of us to deliver quality football this season to win trophies.” Norde also added saying, “This Salt Lake Stadium ground has been so known to me that I never had any difficulty to perform at this ground. And against ATK also I was in old touch.”
However, Mohun Bagan will be playing against Tampine Rovers of Singapore in an AFC Champions League play-off match on 27th January.
This is the qualification match for Bagan to participate in the AFC Champions League. Mohun Bagan will be the first team from India to participate in the AFC Champions League if they can defeat Singapore team Tampine Rovers.
