Team India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin feels the ankle injury of Prithvi Shaw during the practice game against Cricket Australia (CA) XI, is an opportunity for someone else to make a mark.
Meanwhile, this will be a massive blow for India as Shaw showed signs of form in the warm-up game. Shaw, while fielding on the deep mid-wicket boundary, caught CA XI opener Max Bryant just inside the rope and fell over while trying to keep the ball in play as momentum carried him beyond. Shaw twisted his left ankle while landing and looked in a lot of pain.
Speaking on Shaw’s injury, Ravichandran Ashwin longs for his quick recovery stating that it is an unfortunate event.

“I think he’s feeling a bit sore. Clearly swollen up a little bit. Quite sad it happened just when he came out on the field. I hope he recovers faster. He hasn’t spoken much. It’s obviously something that has hit him really hard.
He’s a young boy who has come to play in Australia for the first time, he had a dream start to his Test career, so it must be quite hard,” Ashwin said.

However, Ashwin is keen to look at the positive side that it is an opportunity for someone else to make a mark.
“I shouldn’t be saying this but it’s unfortunate what happened. You must have heard these cliched lines before, but these things happen in the game. It’s an opportunity for someone else. I believe everything happens for a reason and if it’s happened for the right reasons I’m happy for it,” he concluded.
The four-match Border Gavaskar Test series will commence from December 6 at the Adelaide Oval.
