Eva Carneiro has full support of FIFA Medical Committee.

Chelsea ex-physio, Eva Carneiro seems to have gained another support in her legal battle with the club in the form of the Fifa Medical Committee. She has been embroiled in controversy ever since the very public fallout with the Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho over treatment meted out to Eden Hazard during the home match with Swansea City at the dawn of the season.

He was miffed about the fact that Chelsea were already down a man and with the treatment to Eden, would have been reduced to 9 at a crucial juncture. The fact that a Swansea set piece was just about to take place also had a bearing on Mourinho’s behaviour. It has later been analysed that she was in fact, only following the procedure and had done no wrong.

She was dismissed from her duties on the pitch and moved into the clubhouse but soon after, she resigned. Over this period she has garnered a lot of support especially in the form of feminists and has submitted a legal notice to Chelsea over her treatment. Meanwhile she is attempting to find employment with Charlton mooted as a possible destination.

FIFA medical chief Michel D’Hooghe told, ‘Of course I support Eva Carneiro. She did her job, she did her duty. When somebody is medically in trouble she has to intervene. She has my support and that of the whole medical committee.”

‘I have had email contact with her and she is very happy with the global support of the medical world in football.’

Along with backing in the case, D’Hooghe promised Carneiro support in issues surrounding employment. D’Hooghe further said, ‘I can imagine in the short term she might have some problems with that but with her personality and her competence she must certainly have a great future and if I can help her I will.’
