Honorary Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer fears that Pep Guadiola might leave the Bavarians for a United job.

Pep Guardiola has not signed an extension with the German Club and that raises questions regarding his future and thus has attracted big teams like Manchester City and Manchester United. This keen interest in Gardiola has put Becknbauer on the back foot and he has expressed his concern over losing a world class manager like the Spaniard.

“Pep is interesting for every top club in the world. That’s just normal. He can pick his club, and in terms of popularity Manchester United might be the number one worldwide”  said Beckenbauer while expressing that it would be a loss for Munich if they lose a manager like Guardiola as the association of the club with him has reaped benefits for the them. “FC Bayern Munich are in great form this season with the best start in Bundesliga history, and the consistency and level of performance are the result of Pep Guardiola’s consistent work” further added the German legend.

While Beckenbauer might be apprehensive about letting go of Guardiola, Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge talks about the entire issues like a ‘way of life’. “No-one is irreplaceable. Players come and go and it is the same for coaches. The coaches come in and at some point they leave. If Guardiola leaves, another exceptional coach will come in” he said, highlighting the approach the Club is going to take in case the move comes to be.

When the Bundesliga mid week break comes after 19 December, things will be much clearer as to Guardiola’s future as he has stated that he will talk to the club about his future; whether he will continue to rule in Germany or test the English waters.
