West Indies great Brina Lara entertained the Perth crowd with a classy unbeaten 51 runs innings  in the Festival of Cricket Twenty 20 match against Perth Scorchers at Aquinas Colege ground in Perth today (Friday) December 11. Lara played for Australia’s legends XI. 

The golden generation of cricket has teamed up in 2015 Festival of Cricket to bring back the nostalgia in the mind of cricket fans.

Australian legends like Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting and Matthew Hayden, Glenn McGrath, Justin Langer and Andrew Symonds padded up as part of the Australia XI which has taken on the Perth Scorchers.

West Indies great Brian Lara showed his class and scored a half century, which was no doubt a special treat for fans at the end of the year. 

 

 

  

The match was host by West Australia’s Big Bash franchise Perth Scorchers as they will launch their T20 campaign on December 21 against Adelaide Strikers.

Adam Gilchrist was the captain of Australia XI his long-time teammate was the captain of Scorchers. Langer has been coach of Scorchers for quite a few years.

This is the second time Festival of Cricket has happened after 2014. It will now become a tradition in Australia as it will again play in 2016 December. In 2014, Perth Scorchers won the battle by 50 runs.

The match has been held in front of the spontaneous university and local crowd.  Legends XI lost the match while chasing Perth Scorchers’ 180.
