Mauricio Pochettino’s team were up against Ligue 1 giants Monaco at White Hart Lane, as the two sides went head to head with each other on Thursday, as the home side tried to qualify for the next round as group leaders. Tottenham Hotspur were expected to win based on their current form and the match began well for the north Lond side, who started off with a goal in the 2nd minute of the game. Erik Lamela was the early goal scorer, as the Argentine international further added a second for his side on the 15th minute and a third on the 37th minute of the match to give Spurs a 3-0 lead over their rivals by half-time.
Also, once the game restarted after the break, El Shaarawy managed to add a consolation goal for the French side just after the hour mark, as he put one into the net on the 61st minute, though eventually it was no use.
Further, Caroll added a 4th for the home side in the 77th minute as well to finish the game on a positive note, as the match ended in a 4-1 win for the hosts, who went through to the next round of the Europa League with ease.
Tottenham have also been superb in the league this season, as they are unbeaten since the opening day of the current campain when they loss to Manchester United.
