Until now the players, captains and the coaches were in the frame of things. But far, the on-field umpire has slid into the picture as well. During day four’s play at the MCG, umpire Ian Gould got hit by a throw by KL Rahul. Much to everyone’s surprise, Gould didn’t seem happy at all. Though Rahul didn’t mean to hit or hurt the official, his throw was casual, and Gould, standing in the middle, got hit by it.
India inches closer towards victory
India has been in the forefront of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Led by Virat Kohli, India has already wrapped up eight Australian wickets and are moving closer towards creating history. In the second innings, Shami and Jadeja have done the majority of the damage. The pair, so far, has picked five wickets between them. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has taken all the limelight with his maiden six-for in Tests in the first innings.

Courtesy his wicket-taking spree, Australia failed to create any momentum heading forward. They got all out on 151, giving India a lead of 292. Though it looked like India’s game by then, a spell from Pat Cummins before the third day’s play jolted India’s confidence. Not only he took four wickets, but also he got the India National Cricket Team captain on a rare zero. Alongside Kohli, Cummins got the wicket of Vihari, Pujara and Rahane.
Day four didn’t start well for the Indians
However, India’s scorecard read 54 for five at stumps on day three; they didn’t put up a lot of runs before declaring for the second time in a Test. Overs before lunch, Virat declared at 106 for eight, giving a target of 399 to the Australians. What followed after only made thing sure, if rain doesn’t interrupt, India is taking the game home, and also retaining the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
