Rishabh Pant continued his impressive foray into Test cricket with a historic ton in the ongoing fourth Test between India and Australia on Friday. The youngster was getting the starts in the ongoing series but was throwing them away. However, on Friday, he made sure to make the most of yet another impressive start and ended up adding feather to his cap.
Pant joined Cheteshwar Pujara on the crease in the very first session following the dismissal of Hanuma Vihari. And the wicketkeeper-batsman looked in form right from the time he arrived on the field. Pant showed remarkable composure to build the innings. Unlike the previous innings of this series, he did not go for wild shots and reaped the rewards. He completed his fifty off 85 deliveries and took 52 more deliveries to reach his second Test ton. He reached the triple-digit in style by slamming Marnus Labuschagne for a four.

And as soon as Pant reached his century, Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to congratulate him. The legendary batsman wrote a message in his usual amicable manner and also took a sly dig at Australia skipper Tim Paine’s ‘babysitter’ sledge at Pant.
“Pantastic ! Wonderful 100 from @RishabPant777 , 2nd overseas century and now the 2nd highest run getter in the series after Pujara. Yeah Baby! Sitter,” wrote Sehwag.

Meanwhile, Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test ton in Australia. Last year, he had become the first Indian ‘keeper to score a Test ton in England and also the first ‘keeper to score a century in the fourth innings of a Test when he scored his maiden Test ton in the fifth Test at the Oval. Pant also became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score two overseas tons.
