Champions of England, Chelsea hosted Watford at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day, in their first game under new manager Guus Hiddink after an impressive win over Sunderland last weekend. The Blues were keen to secure all three points at home from this game, though they were up against a side who had beaten Liverpool 3-0 in their previous game and it was not going to be an easy game. The Hornets were once again expected to put up a fight and they did, as the west London side took in the lead in the 32 minute when Diego Costa got on the score sheet. Troy Deeney equalized 10 minutes later to make the score 1-1, as the two teams went into the break with all to play for.
After the restart, Odion Ighalo gave his side the lead in the 56th minute, before the Chelsea striker manged to add a second for his side in the 65th minute to make the score 2-2.
Brazilian international Oscar missed a penalty when Eden Hazard was brought down in the box, which could have won them the game and Costa picked up a fifth booking of the league as well, which will see him miss the trip to Old Trafford.
The game eventually ended in a draw, which meant that Hiddink will still have some thinking to do prior to the clash against Manchester United.
Here are some of the reactions of the fans on Twitter after this result that saw the west London side once again drop a couple of points:
