With just 5 points from the first three games in charge, Guus Hiddink has not really turned Chelsea’s season around and there are continuous speculations about his successor at the club at the end of the season.

After winning the Premier League title last season, Chelsea were downright mediocre in their approach this season and a change at the helm was the only option left for the club. Jose Mourinho was sacked and in came Guud Hiddink as an interim manager.

But with the history of the club, top class managers from all over Europe will be willing to take up the job at Stamford Bridge. While club owner Roman Abramovic wants to persuade and land Spanish maestro Pep Guardiola, the chances of him coming to the club look very slim.

Guardiola has already stated that he will not sign a new contract with Bayern is now favorite to replace Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City. However, Express sport understands that the English club are still in pursuit of the star manager.

Meanwhile, with chances of Guardiola coming to the club reducing rapidly, ex-youth team coach and Liverpool flop Brendan Rodgers has emerged as a new long term suitor for the London franchise. Rodgers was a part of the back room staff at the Bridge before taking on his own career as a manager.

He was exceptional with the work he did at Swansea City and also had Liverpool playing some scintillating football that saw the Reds come tantalizingly close to the Premier League title in 2013/14 season.

But the last season saw Liverpool slide down to mediocrity and similar results to start this season saw the Irish national sacked and replaced by Jurgen Klopp. Rodgers has ever since been out of duty and available for any offers.

He has rejected an offer from Swansea City after the Irish outfit removed Gary Monk as the manager this season. Rodgers is though to be happy to wait and look for the right job at the moment.

The biggest news however is the fact that Sky Bet has now made Rodgers the favorite to land a permanent place at the helm of Chelsea. Guus Hiddink will leave the club apart from a miracle and Rodgers is now 7/2 favorites to land the job at the start of next summer according to Sky Bet.

Pep Guardiola is joint second along with Hiddink at 5/1 while Antonio Conte and Diego Simeone are at 6/1 to land the job. However, we are just half way through this season and Chelsea have a lot of work to do to get out of the hole they dug for themselves.
