MS Dhoni Hits Nets, Likely To Play Fourth ODI Against New Zealand 1

Team India will be looking to continue their winning run when they take on battered New Zealand in the fourth ODI on Thursday. The Men in Blue have already sealed the series after winning the first three games and have a chance to register their first ODI whitewash in New Zealand. However, they will have their task cut out in the absence of their talismanic skipper Virat Kohli. The 30-year old has been rested for the remainder for the tour.

But the team has received a huge boost ahead of the penultimate game of the series. While Kohli will not play in the series anymore, MS Dhoni is likely to return to action after missing the third ODI. The veteran batsman had suffered a hamstring injury in the second ODI and missed the third. He is now looking set for a comeback after being seen at the nets along with his teammates on Wednesday.

Dhoni has been in stunning form this year and will be looking to continue his fine show if he returns to the team in the upcoming game. He scored three consecutive fifties in Australia before scoring an unbeaten 48 in the second ODI against New Zealand.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill could also make his debut in the fourth game. With Kohli not in the squad any more, the calls to include Gill in the side have elevated in the last couple of days. The match will also be a memorable one for Rohit Sharma, as he will become the 14th cricketer to play 200 ODIs for India with Sachin Tendulkar (463) leading the list. Among the current cricketers, Virat Kohli (222) and MS Dhoni (334) are the others to achieve this milestone. Rohit will also lead the side in Kohli’s absence.
