All great achievements require time and this stands true in the case of Mexican ace Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez. The Manchester United reject is now single-handedly reigning over the German league. The player who was clearly denied of opportunities once is now the leading scorer in another league. Chicharito Hernandez headed out of Old Trafford when he was told by Van Gaal he had only a “one percent chance” of playing up front for United. Javier realized his time at United had sadly come to an end and an exit was imminent. In the summer of 2015, Hernandez was sold to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. And then, Chicha became a blessing in disguise for the German side.
Javier’s goal galore at Bayer knows no end. The former Manchester United striker has scored seven goals in his last five matches, including a hat-trick against Borussia Monchengladbach, to be voted the Bundesliga’s best in November and December. Chicha, who was not fitting into LvG’s philosophy, has now won back to back Bundesliga Player of the Month awards in November and December.
Anthony Martial was brought in by the United gaffer to replace Chicharito. The £36 million prospect has netted only three times in his last 18 games and has clearly failed in replacing Hernandez. What amazes us is the fact that Chicharito alone has netted more goals than Rooney and Martial combined have. Amidst the likes of Lewandowski and Reus, Hernandez is battling the mighty strikers and showing his worth. It is safe to say that the Mexican who was formerly a misfit as his club is now royally reigning over the German league.
