The considerable campaign to gun down Louis van Gaal from his managerial seat at Old Trafford was quietened after Manchester United’s goalless draw with Chelsea. Expect the critics, pundits to start again their campaign against the Dutchman if United lose to Swansea City at home. Van Gaal is still adamant he will not walk away but also knows a ninth game without a win will make life more uncomfortable for him at the start of 2016.
While the Red Devils showed a well-improved performance against Chelsea, in which they managed to create more chances and had most of the ball, they still failed to score. The depleted squad have suffered enough for lack of goals since mid-October, and if they attempt to pull themselves out of their recent slumps they have to find the net whenever chances created. On the other hand, Swansea has won only one league fixture away from home this season, against bottom-of-the-table Aston Villa.
