Pocket-sized dynamo Kedar Jadhav proved yet again why he is one of vital cogs in the Indian playing XI as he bagged the prized wicket of Usman Khawaja when the visitors looked in complete control during the 2nd ODI in Nagpur today. After batting first India posted a competitive 250 on the board. They were unable to finish their quota of 50 overs and were bowled out in the 49th over.

Captain Virat Kohli was the top scorer for the hosts. He smashed his 40th ODI century. It was a typical Kohli innings where he relied on singles and doubles to outclass the oppositions. But he kept losing his partners which didn’t allow the home team to press on the accelerator in the final few overs. During the Indian innings, MS Dhoni registered an unwanted record as he scored his first golden duck in ODI’s after 9 years.

Leg-spinner Adam Zampa bagged two crucial wickets despite conceding 62 runs in his allotted 10 overs. Overall the visiting bowlers were pretty impressive. They restricted India to a par score of 250. It was an impressive effort by the Australian bowlers. However, the pitch was not an easy one to bat on and had something on offer for both the pacers and the spinners.

Chasing a relatively modest target of 251 runs, the visitors began on a positive note. Openers Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja strolled into the middle and struck some wonderful shots to begin with. The duo shared a 78 runs stand before Kuldeep Yadav bowled one of his magic deliveries and brought about the downfall of Aaron Finch.

In the very next over it was the turn of Kedar Jadhav to bag his first wicket. It was a below sea level delivery as Sunil Gavaskar jokingly says and it did the job for the home team. Usman Khawaja lobbed the ball in the air and it was safely pouched by Virat Kohli. Kedar Jadhav gave a perfect send off to Usman Khawaja after dismissing him. He used an Indian cuss word after India managed to bag a couple of wickets in quick succession.
