Rohit Sharma’s woeful run in the ongoing series against Australia continued on Friday as he failed to get going again in the ongoing third ODI in Ranchi. The India opener has not played any significant in the series, scoring 5 in the one T20I he played before managing 37 in the first ODI. In the previous ODI, he had failed to even open his account. And the barren run against the Aussies continued in Ranchi too.
The right-handed batsman looked in his elements early on and had already hit a four and a six. However, he could score just 14 before being sent back by Pat Cummins. Rohit failed to put bat to an angled delivery from Pat Cummins and the ball went on to pin him on the pads. Cummins and his teammates went up in unison only to see umpire giving his decision in the favour of the batsman.
Upon seeing that, Australia immediately reviewed the decision as it looked very close. And the HawkEye showed Three Reds which meant the umpire had to overturn his decision. However, Rohit was not at all happy with the decision and muttered a few words in anger while making his way towards the dressing room:

India, meanwhile, are in deep trouble as Rohit’s dismissal saw them getting reduced to 15 for 2 in pursuit of 313. Shikhar Dhawan had also failed to get going, scoring just 1. Earlier in the game, Usman Khawaja’s maiden ODI ton and Aaron Finch’s 93-run knock had helped Australia post a daunting 313 for 5. India are leading the five-match series 2-0.
