Captain's knock from Warner guide SRH to qualify for the final

David Warner is all set to make his comeback to the IPL season this year as he will be playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The former captain of the franchise had to miss last year’s tournament due to the ban imposed by Cricket Australia.

In a photo shared by Sunrisers Hyderabad, Warner can be seen in Hyderabad and was also greeted by the officials there.

Warner landed in India along with Steve Smith.

Both the players met the members of the Australian cricket team in UAE, who are all set to play Pakistan in a five-match ODI series.

Warner and Smith are not a part of the squad as their ban ends on March 28.

There were expectations that these two could be selected for last two ODIs, that will be played after March 28 but Cricket Australia did not select them.

Instead, they will be playing IPL, which will be the only tournament for them since making their comebacks from an elbow injury.

Incidentally, both Warner and Smith suffered elbow injuries during the Bangladesh Premier League.

Warner’s issue was a small one and he is set to run for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Although it is yet to be known whether both the players will play the matches that will be played before Mach 28 or not.

In Warner’s absence, Kane Williamson was handed the captaincy duties of SRH.

The decision came as a surprise as Shikhar Dhawan was expected to be given the job.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was appointed as deputy to Williamson.

Under a new skipper, Sunrisers Hyderabad performed well and qualified for the final of the tournament, where they lost Chennai Super Kings, again.

On all four occasions that the two teams faced each other, MS Dhoni-led side emerged as the winner.

The two out of four wins came at Qualifier and final as well.

This year, SRH could be without the services of Kane Williamson for a couple of matches that can see Bhuvneshwar leading the team.

Despite being present in the team, Warner is not expected to be given the captaincy job as Cricket Australia had banned him from captaincy for lifetime.

He will never be appointed as captain of any Australian team.

Warner led T20 franchises during his stint at Global Canada T20 and Bangladesh Premier League.
