With another exciting season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) round the corner, all eyes will be on Rajasthan Royals (RR) fast bowler, Jaydev Unadkart. The left-arm pacer became the most expensive fast bowler among the Indian domestic fast bowler and this year is no different. However, he failed to live up to the expectations last year and is keen to deliver this time around when the season kicks off on March 23.

Meanwhile, defending champions, Chennai Super Kings will begin their title defence in the tournament opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Royals, on the other hand, will start their campaign on March 25 against King XI Punjab. Rajasthan Royals again bought Jaydev Unadkat in Rs 8.40 crores, who managed to pick only 11 wickets from 15 games is the last season. However, the seasoned campaigner now understands the hefty price tags come with a lot of expectations. He also maintained that the last season has only made him stronger and expressed his gratitude towards the franchise.

I am glad that Rajasthan Royals have shown faith in me. But, price tags come with high expectations and pressure is bound to be there in every single game. Last season was a learning experience and what I went through has only made me stronger,” said Unadkat.

This experience helped Jaydev Unadkat to re-invent himself, and the entire exercise has benefitted him considerably. In the current domestic season, he finished the Ranji Trophy with 39 wickets in 8 matches at an economy rate of 2.57. Besides, he sort of single-handedly carried his team up to the semifinal stage of the prestigious tournament.

You need to look forward

Speaking about the last season, Jaydev Unadkat said that he has learned not to worry about criticism. As a professional, his job is to perform and concentrate on what he does that best. Unadkat also spoke about his friends who always guide him to think on the possitive aspect of everything.

I have noticed the criticism coming from fans on social media, but I have learned not to let myself worry or think too much about it. As a professional, you got to take these things in your stride and look forward to improve. My friends always tell me to focus on positive aspects of everything as that is the right way going forward,” he added.
