Kings XI Punjab head coach Mike Hesson heaped praise on Team India Test opener Mayank Agarwal who recently made a name for himself with his exploits with the bat during the Test series in Australia. Mike Hesson stated that Mayank Agarwal would have got a lot of confidence from his sensational debut in Australia.
Mayank Agarwal looked totally unfazed after he got an opportunity to prove his mettle in the Test team for the last two matches. Agarwal wasn’t part of the original squad. However, the injury sustained to Prithvi Shaw proved to be a blessing in disguise for Agarwal. He scored a magical 76 in his debut innings and followed it up with a fluent 42 in the 2nd innings.
Mayank Agarwal continued his rich vein of form and smashed yet another half-century in his 2nd Test. This time around too, he fell agonizingly close of a well deserved maiden Test century. However, it wasn’t possible as the flamboyant opening batsman tried to play a big shot. Despite his sensational record in the domestic format in the last year or so, Agarwal hasn’t been able to replicate his form in the Indian Premier League.

Mike Hesson heaps praise on Mayank Agarwal
The opener will be playing for the Kings XI Punjab. Coach Mike Hesson is hopeful of the fact that this season could be the make or break season for Mayank Agarwal. Besides praising him for his prowess in Australia, he also hailed him for being a terrific fielder. Hesson is eagerly looking forward to working with Mayank Agarwal.
In a twitter video posted by Kings XI Punjab, Mike Hesson was seen sharing his thoughts on Mayank Agarwal and what changes he needs to imply in the upcoming edition of the tournament to be successful.
“Mayank Agarwal obviously made his Test debut against Australia and he would have got plenty of confidence from his performance over there against a strong attack in different foreign conditions. So look Mayank Agarwal has been an outstanding performer as I am sure you will know domestically in all forms.

T20 has been one such format where he hasn’t nailed yet and I think this is the year for him in terms of, if he gets a role and gets that confidence early, he certainly has that technique which will allow him to play those substantial innings. There is certainly something which we will like to see from him. He is a great fielder and a great attitude. So I am really looking forward to working with him,” Mike Hesson said.
