Afghanistan Cricket team recently scripted history following their maiden Test match win against Ireland by seven wickets at Dehradun. Rejoicing on the glory, veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi admitted that they can beat any side in the world if they bat well. Meanwhile, Afghanistan became the joint second-fastest to a maiden Test-match win, alongside Pakistan and England.
Need to improve batting
Afghanistan played some excellent cricket to chase down the target of 147 runs with seven wickets to spare. Rahmat Shah and Ihsanullah Janat shared a 139-run stand for the second wicket to seal the victory. Shah played a superb knock in the first innings as well to hand Afghans a crucial lead. Previously, Rashid Khan weaved his magic with a five-wicket haul bowl out Ireland for a paltry score of 288 runs. Yamin Ahmadzai and Waqar Salamkheli also chipped in with three and two wickets respectively. Coming from zero and creating history with every passing game, Afghanistan Cricket have come a long way.

The country from Central Asia is up for more success in the recent if they can improve their batting feels Mohammad Nabi. They have some world-class spinners in their ranks who can skittle any batting order. Nabi believes if they can put a good score on the board, they will give themselves a good chance of winning the match.
“We have the world’s best spinners and we try to concentrate on our batting line-up. If we can put up a good score on board then we are confident of beating any team in the world,” Nabi told reporters.
Historic day for Afghanistan
Besides, Mohammad Nabi admitted that it is a historic day for their country. The 34-year-old is now optimistic that more nations will now invite them to play cricket, now that they have started winning. Moreover, the all-rounder admitted that they may still be weak but will not go down without a fight.

“It’s a very historic day for whole of Afghanistan. Especially for those guys who bring cricket from zero to Test cricket. We played two games and we won one.
“When you win then teams will tell you to come and play with them. Nobody plays a weak team. They might think that Afghanistan is weak but not so much that we can’t fight them,” Nabi added.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s next assignment will be the upcoming ICC World Cup in England and Wales. This is their second time in this tournament, and they will look to create some significant upsets. Afghanistan will begin their campaign on June 1 against Australia at Bristol.
