Royal Challengers Bangalore had a special guest when they were training ahead on Tuesday ahead of the twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League. Sunil Chhetri, Indian football team captain, gave the cricketers a surprise visit at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chhetri who is good friends with Royal Challengers Bangalore and India skipper Virat Kohli was given a warm welcome by the team.
Kohli took up the responsibility to introduce Chhetri to the few players who might not know one of the most decorated footballers in the game right now. In January this year, Chhetri surpassed Lionel Messi to become the second highest international goalscorer among active players.
“Those of you who don’t know, that’s Sunil Chhetri the captain of our national football team. He’s just joining on the field today. Any of you want to chat to him about your mindset or anything… main man. Let’s make him feel comfortable and welcome,” Virat Kohli said as his teammates made a huddle around him and Sunil Chhetri.
I’ve sore hands and shoulders from yesterday, but thanks for having me over, champ! Good luck for the tournament @imVkohli #No1 #TopLad

Well, with the football team doing its bit for the city, it is now up to the cricket team to play its role. The Royal Challengers have never won the IPL title in its eleven seasons. They have made it to the final thrice but ended up on the losing side every time. They last made it to the finals in 2016 where they lost against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Last season was a forgettable one for the Bangalore-based franchise. They had managed to win just 6 of their 14 games and finished sixth in the eight-team tournament. With an eye on their maiden title, Royal Challengers will open their campaign against defending champions Chennai Super Kings on March 23.
