Chelsea are apparently looking to sign a new striker to resolve their issues up-front and ave set their eyes on Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez.

Chelsea have no choice but to look for an experienced and prolific forward since their main man Diego Costa is misfiring badly in recent times.

Radamel Falcao is sidelined and rumours have erupted that he would possibly return to AS Monaco this month and Guus Hiddink does not seem interested

to give more chances for out-of-favour Loic Remy.

Martinez joined Madrid only last summer for a fee of €35 million (£26m) after enjoying splendid three seasons with FC Porto, where he scored 67 goals in

89 Portuguese Primeira Liga and 12 goals in 22 Champions league appearances.

The 29 year old forward has scored only two La Liga goals since joining Madrid and Diego Simeone is convinced that the striker will not fit into the team, to

execute his plans.

Chelsea have consistently brought players from Madrid to Chelsea and 18 months ago they signed Filipe Luis and Diego Costa and also recalled Thibaut

Courtois in the transfer window.

Young striker Patrick Bamford returned from a horrendous loan spell from Crystal Palace and it is to be seen whether Hiddink is likely to give him a chance

at Chelsea.

Loic Remy also is injured and Hiddink must wait for some time to decide on the options he has for striker’s role and it is good enough that they are trying to

sign Jackson Martinez.

Chelsea are also reportedly interested to sign either of Jamie Vardy, Saido Berahino and Emmanuel Adebayor for more options up-front.

Diego Simeone also adds that the striker has talent to succeed, despite struggling to find form at Vincente Calderon in the few appearances he has made

this season.

‘He scored as many goals as the other attackers while he played less than them.

‘They say many things about it, but we must have patience and I repeat: I am very happy with his work.’

Its just a matter of time until the striker finds his form again but whether or not he will continue at Madrid will be decided in the transfer window soon.
