It is always a special moment for any budding player to make his debut at the International level. When a young player goes on to make his debut for the national side, all the big efforts from childhood days pays dividends. Similarly, Ajinkya Rahane recalled the amazing Test debut feeling when he received his Test cap from veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh.

Rahane had performed consistently for Mumbai and he was finally able to borne fruits for his hard work. On 22 March 2013, Rahane had made his Test debut, thus the right-hander has completed six years at the International level.

However, the flamboyant batsman didn’t have an ideal debut against Australia. Rahane had scored seven runs in the first innings and could only score a solitary run in the second dig. Consequently, it was not a debut to remember for him. However, India had gone on to win that match by six wickets.

In fact, it would have a great feeling for Rahane to make his debut under the veteran batsman Sachin Tendulkar. The Master Blaster was in the fag end of his career at that stage.

Meanwhile, since then Rahane has taken some giant strides in his Test career. Rahane was instrumental in India’s famous win at Lord’s in 2014 when he scored a fine hundred. Thus, Rahane was also handed over the vice-captaincy baton.

On the other hand, Rahane has been out of sorts from the white ball version. In fact, his Test form hasn’t been great in the recent past. He has got off to starts but hasn’t made a substantial score. Hence, Rahane will like to turn the tables. The right-hander will also lead Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Ajinkya Rahane took to Twitter to share the memory. The post read as, “#ThisDayThatYear
It was such an amazing moment when I received my Test cap in 2013. That feeling of pride still overwhelms me!
