Royal Challengers Bangalore are off to a disastrous start in the ongoing first match of the Indian Premier League against Chennai Super Kings. Asked to bat first on a Chepauk track that showed variable bounce, the Royal Challengers Bangalore were off to a disastrous start. The visiting team could score only 16 runs before losing their star skipper Virat Kohli for just 6. The right-hander perished while playing a big shot off Harbhajan Singh.
In his next over, the off-spinner accounted for Moeen Ali to leave the visitors reeling at 28 for 2. All eyes were on AB de Villiers then as he was seen as the man to save the Royal Challengers. However, the Proteas star failed to deliver too. What would have further hurt him was that he had got a reprieve on the first ball of the eighth over bowled by Harbhajan before falling on the very next delivery.
The hard-hitting batsman attempted a slog sweep in order to clear the boundary. However, he failed to time the ball well and hit it straight to Ravindra Jadeja at deep mid-wicket.
Here is a clip of AB de Villiers’ dismissal:

The Super Kings, meanwhile, are favourites to win the ongoing contest. The head-to-head numbers are also heavily in favour of the defending champions. In 22 meetings between the two teams so far, the Super Kings have won 14 while the Royal Challengers have won just 7. In fact, the Bangalore-based franchise’s first and only win till date at the Chepauk came in the inaugural season.
