The other night was a brilliant time for Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium. They outsmarted Mumbai Indians in their fortress by smashing them in all departments of the game. Meanwhile, the head coach Ricky Ponting is pretty much happy with the performance and gave a special mention to Ishant Sharma.
Ishant Sharma has been the leader of India’s pace attack ever since Zaheer Khan lost his golden touch. After Zaheer Khan’s retirement, Ishant has been the undisputed strike bowler for Indian captains. However, after a period of time, he lost his touch and saw himself out from the limited overs team.
On Sunday, Ishant Sharma bagged the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock in the powerplay overs, which gave the initial wickets for Delhi Capitals. His spell has certainly helped the other bowlers to execute their plans precisely.

Ishant Sharma’s work ethic is outstanding – Ricky Ponting
Speaking of the fast bowler, Ricky Ponting lauded the lanky bowler for his work ethic. He quoted that Ishant Sharma is giving nice inputs for the youngsters and also delivering the expected goods from him.
“I had a great chat with him last night after the game. Ishant’s work ethic in DC has been absolutely outstanding. The first day of training, I went to him and told him what I expected of him as far as a player is concerned. He is an experienced guy playing a lot of international cricket,” Ponting said.
Further, he went on to add saying that Ishant is bowling as good as he ever bowled in his career. Ponting lauded his spell in the powerplay overs against Mumbai Indians, which helped them to get the initial advantage while defending such a tally.

“I think he is bowling as good as he has ever bowled in his career. Even at his pace, he is bowling as quick as he has ever bowled in his career. He did a great job for us last night bowling those three overs, in Powerplay and set the game up for us. When as a coach you see guys like that work that hard and get the result, it’s really pleasing. A big pat on the back for him,” he inferred.
As Ricky Ponting said, Ishant Sharma looked pretty determined on the other day for Delhi Capitals. It would be interesting to see how things would turn out for the lanky fast bowler in the upcoming few games.
