De Villiers enjoyed his most prolific season in 2016 when he scored 687 runs, helping the Royal Challengers make it to the final.

In the same game, Virat Kohli became the second player after Suresh Raina to score 5,000 IPL runs. The India skipper also became the first player to score 5,000 runs for a single IPL team. Kohli needed exactly 46 runs to achieve the milestone and he scored exactly that.
