Chelsea are reported to be closer to signing a star striker from Brazil this January after a recent injury to striker Diego Costa.
Costa picked up an injury in the 6 goal thriller at Stamford Bridge leaving Guus Hiddink with just one fit striker in Loic Remy. And it is now understood that the London franchise wants to complete the signing of striker Alexandre Pato before they face the Gunners this weekend.
Pato who has been linked with a move to a number of EPL sides including Liverpool and Manchester United but it appears that he is now on the way to Stamford Bridge.
The 26-year old was one of the brightest young talents in Europe a few years ago but continuous injuries stalled his career. He is now a Corinthians player who was loaned out to Sao Paulo where he has found his form recently.
Pato who racked up 26 goals last season is eyed as a back up to Diego Costa at Chelsea with the only fit striker Loic Remy subject to transfer rumors away from home.
The Brazilian is valued at 11 million and Chelsea will not be having a problem meeting his financial requirements. It was already reported that the player and the London franchise have agreed terms with each other and it is now understood that the player’s agents are in London to finalize a deal for a January move.
London Evening Standard also published an article saying Chelsea are in the market for a striker which has fuelled this rumor and it is now a matter of time before an official announcement it is understood.
