An exhibition T20 match comprising cricketer from both the genders is on the cards. Meanwhile, this will be the first of its kind and is likely to be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and international women cricketers. Recently, Virat Kohli, Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Veda Krishnamurthy urged the fans to come and support the unique mixed-gender Twenty20 exhibition match. Meanwhile, it is a part of a campaign launched by Royal Challenge Sports Drink.

The details regarding the venue and date of the mixed-gender match are still not known. It is likely that all Royal Challengers Bangalore cricketers will be available for the game. Interestingly, the fans can vote to register their support for the campaign online. The main aim of this campaign is to break stereotypes that still dominates in our societies.

Speaking on the unique initiation, Virat Kohli said that cricket is one game and there should be no boundaries. He also added that equality in sports is a reflection of equality in society and everybody should work towards breaking the stereotypes.

“Be it, men or women, cricket is one game, and I want to urge fans to break the boundaries that exist in their mind that divides the sport by gender. Equality in sports is ultimately a reflection of equality in life, and if we want a better tomorrow, then we need to say #ChallengeAccepted and start breaking down all stereotypes,” India and RCB captain Kohli stated in a press release.

Harmanpreet Kaur ready for the challenge

Speaking on the same, Indian women team’s T20 skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said its sick of people to think women can’t face 150+ deliveries and clear big grounds. The swashbuckling hitter is ready to take the task and admitted that she doesn’t think of all these while batting.

“People say that women’s and men’s cricket is not equal because we are not able to face the same challenges on-field. To all those fans, I want to say that neither does the idea of facing a ball at 150 kmph daunt me nor do I worry about the size of the stadium while hitting a boundary,” Harmanpreet said.

It will be a unique concept and if the match sees daylight and one step forward in erasing the disparity between men and women in different fields.
