Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) once against presented clinical cricket as they routed Delhi Capitals on their home turf at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Hyderabad overhauled that target of 130 runs in just 18.3 overs with five wickets to spare.
Hyderabad continues winning run
Chasing a below-par target, the openers got Sunrisers Hyderabad off to a brilliant start. Jonny Bairstow was the aggressor while David Warner was happy to play the waiting game. The English wicket-keeper who was coming from a century smashed everything at his disposal. He took most the strike to reach 48 runs off just 27 deliveries including nine boundaries and one six. But Rahul Tewatia got Jonny Bairstow LBW two short of his half-century against the run of play. Kagiso Rabada used the momentum to get rid of Warner to have Sunrisers Hyderabad at 68 for two.
Since then, Vijay Shankar and Manish Pandya relied on singles to keep the scoreboard ticking. With less than ball required, Delhi Capitals struck twice to dismiss the two set batsmen to make the contest interesting. But Yusuf Pathan and Mohammad Nabi kept their nerves to clinch the tie with five wickets in hand.
Previously, Delhi Capitals gave them a fighting chance with that priceless cameo from Axar Patel, but it was not enough. On a typically sluggish Kotla surface, the ultra-aggressive approach of Delhi’s batsmen didn’t work, with only skipper Shreyas Iyer applying himself as wickets kept falling around him. Eventually, the pressure of anchoring and scoring proved too much, resulting in his dismissal. Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided the initial breakthrough cleaning Prithvi Shaw’s timber. Just when Shikhar Dhawan and Iyer tried to build a partnership, Mohammad Nabi once again rose to the occasion to get rid of Dhawan.

Nabi chipped in once again to keep Rishabh Pant at bay while Siddarth Kaul and Sandeep Sharma cleaned the lower middle order to restrict Delhi Capitals within 129 runs. Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the target convincingly to keep their winning run intact.
