PSG star Ezequiel Lavezzi’s agent is expected to discuss a potential deal with Chelsea hierarchy today.

The 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker has been highly linked with a possible switch to the Premier League over the past few months.

There were also some reports earlier this week claiming that a team of Manchester United officials had travelled to the French capital to try and convince the Argentine attacker to make a move to Old Trafford.

Chelsea are believed to be keeping their tabs on Lavezzi’s current situation in Paris with the striker struggling to hold on to his regular spot in Laurent Blanc’s playing eleven.

Now Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed Lavezzi’s agent Alessandro Moggi will be in London today to meet Chelsea officials to discuss about a potential move.

Last week Moggi also confirmed despite the Blues’ desperation to sign the striker, a return to Serie A looks like a better option at present.

“Inter are the most interested team at the moment,” Moggi said in an interview with Italian news outlet Sport Mediaset.

“There was interest from Barcelona and Chelsea, and we’re talking with the Blues.

“I can’t rule out him only leaving Paris at the end of the season though, as Paris Saint-Germain have expressed an interest in keeping him.”

But with Moggi’s arrival in London today, Chelsea could eventually move a step ahead in the chase for the highly-rated Argentine striker. Lavezzi’s contract with PSG will expire at the end of the season.

Earlier some reports suggested United officials visited France last Friday to work out a deal for Lavezzi as PSG have already sanctioned the sale of Lavezzi for about €8m.

Before Chelsea jumped into the race, a move to Premier League giants like Manchester United would be much more effective for the progression of the Argentine’s career. At Old Trafford, he would have a great chance to play with stars like Wayne Rooney, David de Gea, Juan Mata, and more. Not only that, competing at a historic stadium like Old Trafford would definitely have its perks also.

Manchester United surely need a forward like Lavezzi even more than the Argentine needs them. The Red Devils currently are just outside the Champions League berths following a frustrating few months under Louis van Gaal. Fans have also endured a boring, lifeless football creating not enough chances and an even lesser amount of goals as a result.

However, if this report from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is true then Chelsea’s new caretaker boss Guus Hiddink will have the much needed firepower in his attacking line.
