Yet another victory at home for Chennai Super Kings. The knocked down the visitors Kings Xi Punjab to bat yet another couple of points in their kitty. The brilliant display of batting followed by the collective bowling effort helped MS Dhoni-led side to seal those two crucial points for the team.
Initially, it was MS Dhoni, who won the toss opted to bat first. Both the openers Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis went for a kill in the powerplay overs. They knocked runs at a quick pace to make things fall in place for Chennai Super Kings.
Then came the stunning spell of bowling from Ravichandran Ashwin and Murugan Ashwin. The duo bowled 8 overs and gave away 46 runs thus helping Kings XI Punjab to make a comeback into the game.
However, the skipper of Chennai MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu smashed Punjab bowlers in the end overs to help them post 160 runs on the board. During the course, Ashwin finished with 3 wickets to his name.
In reply Chennai’s 160, Kings XI Punjab lost Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal in the same over when Harbhajan Singh in the 2nd over of the game. This made KL Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan play the game slowly.
Despite that, the duo added a few crucial runs in the middle. In fact, they took away the game from Chennai Super Kings. However, the fine piece of bowling display from Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir kept Chennai in the game.
In the end, Sarfaraz Khan failed to stay in the crease, which made the new batsman to take the pressure. The decent piece of bowling in the end by Chennai Super Kings saw them seal the victory.
All in all, it was yet another brilliant victory for Chennai Super Kings in the season. The victory also made them continue their winning streak at home.
