A lot will be at stake when Chennai Super Kings host Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chepauk in the top of the table clash. Both the Super Kings and the Knight Riders have won four of their first five games but the latter are at the top due to better net run-rate. With both the teams in good form at the moment and the momentum firmly with them, one can expect a good contest on Tuesday night.

Pitch report:

“The surfaces in Chepauk have turned the most this season among all IPL venues. Looks quite dry with no moisture and the track doesn’t look really hard. A typical pitch in Chepauk with spinners likely to enjoy the track. Can expect scores in the 150-160 range. Better to chase because dew will be a factor later on in the night,” says L Sivaramakrishnan.

Toss:

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to field first against Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the twenty third match of this year’s Indian Premier League.

Here is what the captains said:

MS Dhoni:

“We’ll bowl first. We’re getting consistent dew here over the last few days and so, we want to chase. Not much. At the end of the day, you need to focus on your own strengths.”

Dinesh Karthik:

“We would have bowled first as well due to the dew factor. But now that we’re batting first, need to put runs on the board. Yes, the bowlers practise it a lot but it’s not easy at all. We’re unchanged.”
