And, the big man, Chris Gayle came to the party on the other night at Wankhede Stadium facing Mumbai Indians. He showed his class in the middle by knocking a blistering half-century to his name. However, he ended up on the wrong side of things, as Kieron Pollard’s magic helped Mumbai seal the victory.
In between, the skipper of Kings XI Punjab revealed that Chris Gayle has twisted his back, which is a primary concern for the team right now. Gayle got into his zone and looking well-set to give a few victories for the team with his flashy knocks.
We need to assess his condition:
But, it is unfortunate that he twisted his back. However, they are still unsure about the recovery time of the stylish southpaw as the reports from the doctors are yet to come. Meanwhile, Ashwin hopes for a quick recovery.

“He (Gayle) said he twisted his back. We have to go check and how he is. Gayle felt a twitch in the back – that’s what he said. We need to assess and monitor what he’s going to do over the next couple of days,” he said” Ashwin said of the 39-year-old destructive West Indian batsman.
It was a par total on the board – Ravichandran Ashwin
Speaking of the loss, the skipper Ravichandran Ashwin quoted that the target was more than enough on the board. He believes that they would have ended up on the winning side if they were bit sharper on the fielding and catching aspects of the game.

“Probably if we would have been sharper, we would have ended up on the right side. I think it was a defendable total. It was just about par. It is a hard defending ground. We were about 10s for 10-12 overs and then we lost a little momentum while batting which I feel was crucial for us. I thought we pretty good as a bowling unit in bits and pieces,” he reflected.
However, it was a great game of cricket on the other night. Unfortunately, Ravichandra Ashwin-led side ended up on the losing side. Despite that, they got a lot of positives in their kitty to take with them to their next game.
Now, Kings XI Punjab heads back to their home to host Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday night. This is the first clash between both the sides in the tournament.
