Delhi Capitals (DC) wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant grabbed on to a stunning catch to get rid of dangerous looking Robin Uthappa against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma provided a brilliant start after Shreyas Iyer opted to bat first. He bowled a wicket-maiden to start off the proceedings and removed debutant Joe Denly with a peach in-swinger. The ball came in after pitching and snicked through the bat and pad to disturb the timber. Since then, Shubman Gill and Robin Uthappa staged a brilliant stand to bail their side out of danger.

The duo took on the Delhi Capitals scoring boundaries in every over to keep the scoreboard running. Shubman Gill, in particular, looked in outstanding touch playing shots all over the park. Robin Uthappa didn’t lag behind bringing the odd boundaries to his name. They soon reached the fifty-run mark and looked it take it on from there. But Kagiso Rabada got the better of Uthappa to provide a massive breakthrough.
The South African pacer followed the slower yorker with a fiery bouncer – short and angling down the leg-side, Uthappa was looking to help it on its way and all that he managed was a glove. The ball was travelling, but Rishabh Pant tumbled to his left, leapt high and completed a fine catch. It was an outstanding effort from Pant and it will surely be in contention for the best catch of the season.

Although wickets kept falling from the other end, Shubman Gill looked determined and brought his first half-century of the season. This knock will give him enough confidence going into the tournament.
