Following an easy-peasy 39-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday night, Delhi Capitals’ (DC) skipper is happy with the way teammates have risen to the occasion. Thus, Iyer is hopeful of bringing glory for the Capitals in the IPL 2019 season.

On April 14, Capitals put up a grand show in Hyderabad to strangulate hosts in their own den. Iyer is keen to continue their progress in the upcoming matches of the IPL.

“We are believing so and it’s never too far. It is a positive thing to carry around. We are positive as well when we chase. We will be backing our abilities.”,” Iyer maintained in his interview.

While batting first after losing the toss, visitors post 155 for seven in 20 allotted overs. The opening duo in the form of Prithvi Shaw 4 (5) and Shikhar Dhawan 7 (8) returned to the pavilion when Capitals score was 11 in 1.5 overs. The left-arm paceman Khaleel Ahmed accounted wickets of both the batters.

However, the 49-run partnership between Colin Munro and Iyer had set the tone for the Capitals.

Munro slammed 24-ball 40 with the help of four fours and three sixes. Iyer played a captain’s knock to perfection by accumulating 45 off 40 deliveries. He has found the fences on five occasions.

Also, Iyer alongside wicketkeeper-batsman Pant stitched crucial 56-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Also, Axar Patel remained not out on 14 off 11 balls alongside Kagiso Rabada 2 (2).

“We got a little cameo from Keemo and Axar and helped us get to that total,” Iyer added.

Deepak Hoodd caught Pant on the bowling of Khaleel, who finished his figures with three for 30 in four overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has claimed two wickets while giving away 33 runs in his quota of four overs. Rashid Khan and Abhishek Sharma bagged wicket apiece.

In response, even though a 72-run stand between David Warner and Jonny Bairstow in 9.5 overs, the hosts got out on 116 in 18.5 overs.

Kagiso Rabada rules the wickets column:

Rabada has bagged four wickets, whereas, Chris Morris alongside Kemo Paul have shared three wickets each. Iyer also shed his light on his bond with Rabada as the duo has partaken in the Under-19 teams of India and South Africa in the same timeline.

“We have played together (Rabada and himself during U-19 days). It is good to be around each other. It is easy to have that camaraderie,” Iyer inferred.

The batting collapse saw eight Sunrisers’ batsmen failing to cross the double-digit mark including their regular skipper.

However, Warner scored 47-ball 51, and wicketkeeper-batsman Bairstow managed 31-ball 41.

With this heartbreaking loss, Hyderabad slips to number six on the IPL 2019 points table with just three wins in seven outings.
