Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered an impeccable bowling effort to restrict Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to 132 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. However, with wicket getting slower, the Hyderabad batsmen will have their task cut out to chase down the target.

Meanwhile, much to the surprise of everyone, Suresh Raina walked out for the toss in place of MS Dhoni. He took a slight niggle in the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders and didn’t want to risk ahead of the ICC World Cup. However, the magnitude of the injury is not serious, and Dhoni was seen playing football ahead of the game. Raina won the and elected to bat first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium stating that the wicket will remain the same throughout the game. Both teams went in with two changes each – Sam Billings and Karn Sharma came in for Chennai Super Kings while Yusuf Pathan and Shahbaz Nadeem slotted in for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Hyderabad bowlers lead the charge

Chennai Super Kings enjoyed their best start to an innings in this edition of the league. Although Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis were cautious at the beginning, the duo started to accelerate to add a 79-run partnership for the first wicket before Nadeem cleaned up the former. This opened the doors for another as Vijay Shankar removed du Plessis to have two new batsmen at the crease. The dismissal of their openers triggered a collapse a Chennai Super Kings never looked to recover from that.

Rashid Khan struck twice in the same over – first to dismiss Suresh Raina and then Kedar Jadhav to have Chennai 99 for four. It was then Khaleel Ahmed’s turn to get rid of Sam Billings – playing his first game of the season for a duck. Since then, Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja concentrated more on rotating to keep the scoreboard ticking as they found to take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers.
