Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink has revealed that the club are on the verge of signing Matt Miazga from MLS side New York Red Bulls. Dutchman has spoken that the American youngster will join the reigning Premier League champions before the close of winter transfer window, says Goal.
The 20-year old defender has featured for Red Bulls in MLS for three seasons, making 46 appearances for the American club, across all competitions. He has played for Poland U-18 team, but has shifted to the USA national team in 2012.
Guus Hiddink took time to share the effervescence of the defender
“He [Miazgo] is a promising player,” the Dutchman spoke.
“We are not rushing but he will be one of the squad members for the future. [He is a] young person, stepping up to the national team. You can see what players are capable of in training.”
Chelsea are set to clash with MK Dons in the fourth round of FA cup, and are currently lingering in 14th position in Premier League table. Hiddink also spoke of his happiness in the rejuvenated performances of his talismanic striker, Diego Costa
“I do not know what he did in the previous 20-plus games but I’m very pleased with him now,” he added. “I pleased with his efficiency. We are perhaps depending on him too much but he is a key figure for us. “He’s very nice to everyone here outside the pitch. He is of huge importance.
Guus Hiddink is yet to taste defeat in his second stint at Chelsea, with the latest match ended in a 1-0 win for Chelsea over Arsenal on last Sunday.
