It was a poor run of a form in the Indian Premier league 2019 for Kolkata Knight Riders. They started the season on a bright note by winning the four out of their initial five games. Surprisingly, they lost their form in the middle, where they lost 6 games on a row to see themselves at the 7th position. Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir makes his voice on Dinesh Karthik-led side.

Dinesh Karthik has been superb with his captaincy skills but the poor show from the particular individuals at certain aspects have completely changed the look for KKR. From the table-toppers to the seventh position, it was quite a story for KKR.

Meanwhile, the former skipper of KKR, Gautam Gambhir urged the seniors in the side to help Dinesh Karthik in leading the team. He also thrashed analysts, who are failing to give the perfect inputs for Karthik, especially, in the fielding section.

“KKR play Mumbai on Sunday at the Eden. Things are tight for the home team and I can imagine some anxiety amongst players and the supporters. I have a feeling that if KKR wins this one against Mumbai, it may just galvanise the team,” wrote Gambhir in his column for Times of India.

“Dinesh Karthik needs support from the senior members of the team. Sometimes, as a leader, you want someone to put his arm around you and say, ‘Things will happen, skipper’. I hope someone is doing this in the KKR dressing room.”

An interesting phase of the competition:

The stylish southpaw also quoted that the tournament is going into the crucial phase, where at least five teams are in the contention for the Playoff stage. He believes that the rest of the games will depend on the combinations and the conditions of the field.

“It is the most interesting phase of this season’s IPL. I can’t recall such a closely contested one. While Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi are close to qualification for playoffs, five teams are still in the fray to claim the fourth spot and join the Big Daddies. The reasons for such a close points table are aplenty. They largely revolve around the conditions in which the matches are played and the team combinations.”

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would turn out for the Dinesh Karthik-led side in the upcoming few games. They will host Mumbai Indians in their next assignment before playing Punjab and travelling Mumbai.
