Bangladesh experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim believes his team is one of the biggest contenders of the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. The Tigers have shown an upward swing in their improvement graph in their performances in the last five years. In fact, they were able to qualify for the quarterfinal of the previous edition of the World Cup.

However, their journey was put paid by the India National Cricket Team. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh side has come up with good performances in the recent past, which has helped them grow in stature. In fact, if Bangladesh wins against any other team, it is not considered as an upset now.

Bangladesh has been good in the recent past.

On the other hand, Bangladesh will need to show the right temperament as they don’t have the experience of playing the big matches. Thus, they would like to come up with a complete performance in the ODI showpiece.

Furthermore, there is no doubt that the current Bangladesh side has been the best in their cricketing history. They have played good quality cricket and they would aim to go all the way in the quadrennial event.

“The one thing we believe that we are going to win not just for participating in the tournament. This is our belief, we hope you all do that too,” Mushfiqur Rahim said.

“I strongly believe that we have huge potential to make it to the knockout stages and anything can happen in the knockout stage. I don’t expect an easy game to win in the World Cup. In the World Cup, I will say that every team is strong, but what I believe is that Bangladesh are also one of the biggest contenders to get the World Cup. In the last few years, we suffered defeats in many finals. I have a belief that the almighty might have saved it to give us something big in this World Cup,” Mushfiqur Rahim added.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will need to come up with a complete show in the World Cup. They have the experience of Mashrafe Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal in their side. Bangladesh will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 2nd at the Oval.
