ICC World Cup 2019: MS Dhoni Will be the Most Important Player for India in the Showpiece Event Quips Nasser Hussain 1

Former England skipper Nasser Hussain is of the opinion that MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper will be the key for India in the upcoming 2019 ICC World Cup which is slated to be played in England and Wales from 30th May. Nasser Hussain feels India have a few limitations in their middle order which makes MS Dhoni the most important player for India.

Nasser Hussain is of the opinion that MS Dhoni can rise to the occasions and can score runs in crisis situations.  “MS Dhoni is hugely important for India’s chances at the World Cup. There are certain cricketers around the world who rise to the occasion and are big-match players and Dhoni is one of them.

The bigger the occasion and the more the pressure he is under, Dhoni is the one who seems to soak up that pressure and pace the innings brilliantly. Some have argued that his skills in 50-over cricket have been on the wane slightly but I’m not so sure about that.

As we have seen recently, he still knows how to handle pressure situations and read the game-situation and when you are going into massive tournaments like the World Cup you want guys like MS Dhoni with you and there is no doubt that he’s one of the greatest finishers there has ever been in the game of cricket,” Nasser Hussain further added.

The 12th edition of the World Cup will be one of the most keenly contested tournaments as all the participating 10 teams will get a chance to play against each other at least once during the quadrennial event. This will make the competition a more evenly contested one and give a chance to all the participating teams to go through to the Semi-final of the tournament.

Coming back to MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper has looked in sensational touch in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League and has been the leading scorer for Chennai Super Kings. He has been suffering from back injuries in the past few days which has resulted in him missing a couple of matches.
