Former Team India opener Gautam Gambhir has responded Shahid Afridi’s recent comments. Earlier, Pakistan’s former skipper has launched a scathing attack on southpaw. Afridi termed the prominent Indian batsman had an ‘attitude problem‘.
In his recent autobiography, ‘Game Changer’, Afridi has made some startling revelations. Also, he further termed Gambhir as ‘poor’ in his book which somewhat turned out to be factually incorrect.
It has been evident that Gambhir and Afridi did not share a good rapport even off-the-field.
In his memoir, Pakistan all-rounder recently maintained that Gambhir has no records to boast about. However, harsh comments have thoroughly infuriated Gambhir.
The southpaw in his recent rejoinder has termed Afridi as ‘hilarious man’.
Over the years, the relationship between the two players has turned bitter. The duo has further taken on each other during the television programmes and spoke regarding Kashmir to its length and breadth apart from the on-field antics.
In 2007, during the Kanpur ODI, Afridi-Gambhir collided with each other which further saw star cricketers hurling expletives at each other.
Furthermore, Afridi has announced his retirement from international cricket in 2017, whereas, Gambhir hung his boots in December 2018.
Gambhir has featured in 147 ODIs, 58 Tests and 47 Twenty20 Internationals for India to score in excess of 10,000 international runs.
On the other side, Afridi represented Pakistan in 398 ODIs, 99 T20Is and 27 Tests between 1996 to 2015.
With Afridi focusing on the Twenty20 leagues and his Non-Profit organisation – Hope Not Out, Gambhir, is also doing the charity work.
On the other side has joined Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) to contest elections from East Delhi.
Anyway, Gambhir, who has played a crucial role in 2007 World T20 final and 2011 ODI World Cup grand finale, has sneered at Afridi.
Pertinently, Gambhir added he is ready to take Afridi to the psychiatrist. In his reply on microblogging website Twitter, Gambhir conceded that the Indian government is granting visas to the Pakistanis on the basis of ‘medical tourism’.
“@SAfridiOfficial you are a hilarious man!!! Anyway, we are still granting visas to Pakistanis for medical tourism. I will personally take you to a psychiatrist,” Gambhir tweeted.
