Trailblazers produced some outstanding cricket led by the skipper Smriti Mandhana to beat the Supernovas in an exciting clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Harmanpreet Kaur took on Jhulan Goswami in the last over but failed two runs short.
Trailblazers got off to a perfect with Sophie Ecclestone picking up a wicket in the second over as Priya Puniya departs for 1 of 6, edging an attempted cut to ‘keeper Ravi Kalpana. Although Chamari Athpaththu ad Jemimah Rodrigues added 49 runs but a runout and two timely wickets from Rajeshwari Gayakwad brought the Trailblazers back into the game. Both the set batswomen were back in the hut but Supernovas skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Sophie Divine kept them in the hut.

Although Kaur and Divine tried to cut loose, the Trailblazers bowler did a good job to keep things tight. With 31 runs needed off the last three, it was up for an interesting finish. Sophie Ecclestone, who is celebrating her birthday today bowled a terrific 19th to dismiss the dangerous looking Sophie Divine to give Jhulan Goswami 19 runs to defend in the last over. Harmanpreet Kaur took on Jhulan Goswami but failed two runs short in an exciting tie.
Mandhana leads the charge for Trailblazers
Previously, skipper Smriti Mandhana powered Trailblazers to 140 runs at the end of 20 overs. Put to bat first, they lost Suzie Bates only in the second over to reel at 11 for one. Since then, Mandhana and Harleen Deol stitched a crucial partnership to bail their team out of danger. However, they found it hard to get going scoring only 25 runs from the powerplays. Mandhana and Harleen manage to find the boundaries in the ninth over to up the scoring rate.

Lea Tahuhu’s first over yields two fours for Mandhana, who helps bring up the half-century stand in the 11th over, taking Trailblazers to 62 for one. In the process, Smriti Mandhana crossed her half-century. The first six of the match came in the 16th over as Mandhana nails a Poonam Yadav delivery over extra cover. She follows it up with a hit straight down the ground for a maximum off Radha Yadav and nails a six over the backward square leg fence off Natalie Sciver. Meanwhile, the Supernovas bounced back in the last two overs to contain the Trailblazers to 140. Mandhana got out in the last over after a well made 90 off 67 balls to help her post a challenging total on the board.
